Fireman Sam was at hand just in case we had any teachers self-combusting with shame!

 

 

There were a few possible aliens present in school that day - it was a good job year 4 had a Man In Black!  Professor McGonagal is behind trying to get a silly hobbit from between the chairs!

Range: Non Fiction

Persuasive writing, Adverts, Circulars, Flyers, discussion texts, debates, editorials.

Fiction and Poetry

Short Stories/Short novels that raise issues and from other cultures. Poems from other cultures.

Sentence

Understand how some words can be changed in particular ways. Recognise and use common punctuation marks. How grammar changes according to genre. Use of connectives.

Word

Spell words with common letter strings adding prefixes and suffixes to words. Apostrophes of possession and contractions.

 

 

Place Value/Ordering Rounding

Read numbers from scales to a suitable degree of accuracy.

Understanding and mental calculations

Use mental calculations strategies to support + and - Develop and refine written methods for column addition and subtraction.

Money and Real Life

Use appropriate operations to solve money/real life problems.

Measures

Use relevant vocabulary (l), (ml) and suggest suitable equipment to estimate or measure capacity, shape and space. Sketch a reflection in a mirror. Reason about shapes.

Number

Properties of numbers. Recognise multiples. Understanding x and ¸ relationship. Develop written methods. Fractions/ decimals simple properties.

Sound

Sounds are made when objects vibrate but vibrations are not always visible. Vibrations from sound sources can travel through different materials.

Plants

Review parts and conditions for growth. The effect on growth of differences in the amount of light, water and warmth. Life processes in plants and function of plants.

Habitats

Food chains showing feeding relationships in an eco system and understanding that food chains start with a green plant. Classification of plants and animals using keys, sorting by branch and tree diagrams. Recording, making observations and drawing conclusions.
