PARENTS & SCHOOL:
Meetings are
arranged in the Summer Term, for the parents of the children who
will be starting nursery and reception classes the following
September. Parents who move into the area during the school year or
who would like to visit the school are always welcome to make an
appointment.
Open evenings are arranged to give parents an opportunity to see
their child's work and discuss their progress. Appointments can be
made with the Headteacher and staff throughout the year to discuss
academic and other matters.
ADMISSIONS
POLICY:
Full details of the LEA admissions policy
are available in the "Primary Education in
Wirral: General School Information Booklet". The LEA
Policy on admissions is upheld within the school as we are a
"controlled" school. Voluntary Controlled Schools usually have their
own catchment areas. Christ Church has a scheme of priorities of
admission if the school is over-subscribed. Details are available
from the school or from the Pupil Services
Department (Tel. 666 2121).
Admission to the nursery does not guarantee
admission to the school. Children are admitted to Nursery usually
for one year and have to be three years old before they qualify for
a place. The Compulsory school age attendance is 5 years old.
Admissions takes place in September. Those children whose fifth
birthday occurs between March and August are entitled to part-time
places until Christmas, after which they begin full-time education.
Parents need to complete admission forms and are requested to sign
our Home/School Agreement. They are also issued with a School
Prospectus. Visits to school prior to admissions are arranged for
early years pupils and by request for older children changing
schools.

ATTENDANCE:
Children are urged to attend school
regularly and punctually except during sickness. A weekly percentage
attendance is read out on Monday morning for each class during
assembly and a shield awarded to the highest. Certificates will be
awarded to those children with full attendance. Records are kept of
those children that are absent without authorisation..
"An unauthorised absence means 'an
occasion on which the pupil is recorded as absent without authority
pursuant to the pupil' Registration Regulations 1956." (i.e.
pupils who are absent without the parents permission or parents not
sending children in with a letter to confirm illness or
authorisation).

SCHOOL
ORGANISATION:
The Nursery and
Reception classes are now contained within a Foundation Unit. The
Nursery class provides 52 places on a part-time basis. Pupils are
offered places according to the directives issued by Wirral
Education Committee and normally have one year in Nursery before
starting the Reception class. At the end of the Reception year,
children enter Year 1. Each September they move to the next year
group and after completing Year 6 they transfer to a Secondary
school. All classes are mixed ability.
In year six we employ a setting
system which relates directly to previous assessment data kept on
every child.
